As part of its initiatives to successfully deliver on this positioning, and to further respond the organisation’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) mandate, the ELIDZ has identified the need to introduce a bursary scheme which will promote the development of a skills base that is aligned to the ELIDZ identified skills requirements and further promote a meaningful social investment by the organisation. As such the objectives of the bursary scheme would be as follows:

–  To encourage Mathematics, Science and Technology related higher education within the Eastern Cape’s matriculants.

– To contribute to building scarce resources in the region.

To implement this bursary scheme, the ELIDZ has partnered with the Mathematics, Science and Technology (MST) Skills Development Foundation. The foundation is an initiative by Amahlumela Research, Sustainability, & Education Foundation and South African Black Technical and Allied Careers Organization in the Eastern Cape in South Africa (SABTACO EC) with the assistance of the Department of Education in the Eastern Cape. The main objective of the foundation is to ensure increased access to Mathematics, Science, and Technology Education (MSTE) in the Eastern Cape as part of increasing the province’s ability produce the MST skilled work force needed.
