The Eastern Cape’s automotive sector continues to play a pivotal role in maintaining the country’s position as a formidable automotive competitor in Africa and the world. It also accounts for a large proportion of exports. The province is home to four original equipment manufacturers (OEMs),
and also boasts more than 180 component suppliers who support the local and national manufacturers as well as supply export markets with a range of components and spares.
The East London IDZ cluster aims to build on its proven track record and provide new opportunities by clustering component suppliers in a custom secure zone that meets international environmental standards. The East London IDZ's Automotive Supplier Park houses investors from the automotive cluster such as world renowned manufacturers: Johnson Control, Feltex, Feltex/Caravelle, MC Synchro and TI Automotive.
