The East London IDZ Automotive Supplier Park (ASP) is a primary example of the East London IDZ’s focus on creating streamlined value for the investor through a cluster-driven approach and the development of centralized logistics and shared services. The close proximity of the ASP to the OEM, Mercedes Benz SA (MBSA) has enabled maximum benefits through the development of a tugger route system that enables just-in-time or just-in-sequence supply.
Logistics
The supply chain company UTI has being appointed to provide dedicated logostics services to the East London IDZ tenants with centralized premises in the zone in order to provide a variety of transport and warehousing services.
The East London IDZ has also employed the services of Grindrod J&J to manage the zone’s truck staging area and container yard.
Shared facilities
On site medical services facility as well as a shared canteen and banking facilities have also been provided to ensure efficiency service across a range of services.
Bus services
The East London IDZ has also entered into an agreement with Mayibuye Bus Corporation to ensure easy access for investor staff to travel to and from the East London IDZ every day.
